Would anybody think establishing a company in the beginning of a huge economic crisis is going to succeed? Two good friends, George and Yiannos believed in their dreams and decided to make them happen even though the circumstances were like sailing against the wind.

In January 2013, George and Yiannos stepped into the local Greek tax office to officially register 7 seas as a company. The sight they found at the office was a never-ending line of waiting people. One slight difference distinguished them from the crowd. Everyone in the line was standing to dissolve their company, George and Yiannos were the only ones about to start one! It was a risky game – the one they were about to start – Greece was facing the biggest economic crisis in its history. But we know that exceptional sailors can sail through the roughest storms!

In the first years, the 7 seas sailing school operated only during the winter, offering advanced RYA courses to professional skippers in Greece. Soon the school was unrivalled to provide the RYA yachtmaster certification. Couple of years later, the founders decided to dedicate their full time to the school and widen their offers with courses for beginners too. So they started the summer courses as instructors to teach and make their local and international students fall in love with sailing.

In 2018, a new era started as George and Yiannos decided to split and George took over the school. End of 2019, he bought his very own first sailing boat – the First Beneteau became the first school training vessel. The school was about to start the first classes with the new facilities at the end of March 2020, when a global pandemic paralyzed the entire world. The first wave of the corona virus arrived in Greece and strict lockdown measures were announced. The sailing season had to wait and most of the businesses had to stop operating in Greece. Instead of March the season could only start in the middle of July. Despite the late start, George and his crew made an unforgettable season with their students who became the members of the 7 seas family.
